Holiday homes a good investment?

 In 2013 we invested £115K in the purchase and refurb of the cottage as a holiday rental. Since then the average annual profit £3K before tax.

Had we invested that same sum in Bitcoin (BTC) it would be worth £30 Million and change, without the need to spend hours cleaning the cottage each week.

If we'd invested in Tesla shares that sum would be worth $64 Million. I'd considered making that investment, but at the time I thought Elon Musk was a bit shaky!

An investment portfolio with a financial advisor to the same amount from 2013 would be worth £216K today.

Closing down the holiday Rental

 We've been blessed with great guests for these past 12 months, but we took the decision to close down last year. We honoured bookings made up to now. However from the end of June 2023, we've closed the business of self catering holiday acccommodation. We've told the Council of our decision We'll be doing some refurbishing whilst we decide what to do with the property, maybe sale or maybe long term rental. In the past nine years of ownership we've never stayed overnight in the property, but we have had some great neighbours.
